Scheme: Hillside architecture carries with it inherent program elements. This particular home is one story on the street side and three stories on the downhill side. We were tasked to add an upper floor to include a Principal Suite and an additional bedroom and bath. Taking an already sizable home and adding over 1000 square feet was an exercise in minimizing bulk and mass while maintaining a building that did not exceed the ordinance restriction in height, floor area or lot coverage.
